  • High School diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor of Arts degree strongly preferred
  • Minimum of two years of experience in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or Media.

  • Ability to adhere to the following Development General Statements:
    1. In all matters involving donors or potential donors, the interests of the donor shall come before that of The Salvation Army. No program, agreement, trust, contract or commitment shall be urged upon a donor which would benefit The Salvation Army at the expense of the donor’s best interests.
    2. It is the policy of The Salvation Army to exercise caution against the use of any high-pressure sales techniques when dealing with donors.
    3. All information concerning donors shall be kept strictly confidential.
  • Must complete and adhere to Protecting the Mission requirements and guidelines, including the ability to pass a TSA background check
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite required
  • Working knowledge of integrated database applications and ability to use new software programs with basic training.
Marketing and Communications Content
  • Manage content calendar for Development Department
  • Assist with photo and video content, including scheduling appointments, logistics
  • Identify clients and write stories (support)
  • Manage publicity release forms
  • Assist with photo organization and video storyboarding
  • Post content to social and websites as needed
Printed Materials
  • Manage requests for printed materials
  • Manage projects, if assigned
Media Relations
  • Conduct research for press releases, if needed
  • Manage media list for Division, and keep current
  • Monitor media and distribute reports regularly
General Finance
  • Work with Finance Department to set up vendors, collect W9s, and track codes for general ledger
  • Process marketing and communications invoices
  • Assist with website training
  • Post on website (lead)
  • Conduct website audits and report findings
  • Manage website analytics and report quarterly
  • Work with Territorial Headquarters to update syndicated content and redirects
  • Monitor, respond, or refer general inquiries from
Social Media
  • Post on social media, according to content calendar and special news
  • Conduct social media audits and report findings
Event and Donation Forms
  • Build event pages and donation forms, and pull registration reports and send to field
Direct Marketing (Mail and Email)
  • Track budget for each location
  • Process invoices for each location
  • Reconcile pre-paid invoices and statements, and work with Finance for discrepancies
  • Circulate and approve copy, track copy changes
  • Collect all forms signed and approvals authorized and returned on time
  • Schedule and logistics for marketing roundtables
  • Update direct marketing bulletin board
Emails (local)
  • Build and deploy local emails (support)
  • Collect news about important issues daily, organize and distribute every morning; update breaking news throughout day if needed
  • Attend weekly Development Department and Marketing Communications Team meetings
  • Attend monthly calls with Territorial Headquarters
  • Schedule meetings with the field as needed
  • Schedule, attend, prepare agenda/minutes for Community Relations Committee meetings
  • Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis
  • Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, and reach overhead
  • Ability to operate telephone
  • Ability to operate a desktop or laptop computer
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. (usually file boxes)
  • Ability to access and produce information from a computer
  • Ability to understand written information
